At the Corner Table — No. 1
First, thank you for your interest in the bookish things I've been up to since closing Sinclair Inlet Book Co. It's been a time of change, and as is usually the case, that includes me changing my mind and/or direction a few times along the way. They do say I'm a sparkle brain.
Oh, look! Something shiney!
You're subscribed to this email list, and I've relegated it to a monthly newsletter. It might be one of the most arrogant things I've ever done, writing my own newsletter, about me. But it should inadvertantly refer to some things you might actually want to know, bookish things, y'know.
Our two events in July went off without a hitch, which counts as success in my book. Then in August, the podcast Life on Words got off to a strong start. Guest episodes so far, either live, recorded, or scheduled, include bestselling authors, a Newbury Honor recipient, Emmy and Grammy nominated writers (including a 4x-platinum songwriter coming up), playwrites, publishers, poets . . . I'm pretty impressed, myself.
Then September saw the launch of Inkhorn Review. We have several pieces in our free archive and the Autumn print edition coming out in a few days. It's been a pleasure reading around 500 submissions so far, and I only wish I had more places to publish them.
October has me returning to teaching, this time at Olympic College. That completes my punch card after teaching at Tacoma Community College, Pierce College, Green River, and Clover Park. I'll be working within the management apprenticeship program at PSNS, which condenses my teaching time and leaves me free for the other projects.
Speaking of other projects, I've been writing poetry and some has already been accepted for publication in literary journals. I'm working on a verse novel as well. Sometime I'll bore you with the why's of turning to poetry after so many years.
But enough about me. Let's talk about you . . . What do you think of me?
Anyway, here's a retrospect of posts from September that might actually interest you.
