Sunday at the Corner Table - 2

No rambling retrospective this Sunday. You don't have time. Neither do I.

I have a confession. For a long time, I've felt deficient. An English-teacher-slash-bookstore-owner who took very little time to read. Before that, grad school. My excuse has been how any of these can make leisure reading a chore.

I've started editing Inkhorn Review. A quarterly literary journal is one thing. The litany of submissions from potential contributors is another. Now I'm wondering if the publisher term "slush pile" refers to the brain of the person who tries to read through it. That isn't a complaint.

The Autumn 2026 issue drops Tuesday and I couldn't be prouder. Wait—more proud? These are the dilemnas that haunt me now.

Then there is the podcast, Life on Words. I may not be the next Terry Gross from Fresh Air, but I'm working on it. And with each new guest, there is more reading.

I'm up to something else too, but more on that some other day.

The deficiency is over.
